Tyler Perry has already directed and produced 10 successful box office hit movies. His next venture is his soon-to-launch television network, tentatively titled..Tyler TV.
Lionsgate, the distributor for all of Perry’s films, is working with Perry on three options of bringing his network to fruition: rebranding all or part of the TV Guide Network (which Lionsgate owns 50 percent of), buying a small cable channel that has a complementary audience (possibly the Gospel Broadcasting Network) and move to rebrand and expand it or working with Comcast who committed to providing more minority-run programming after gaining approval from government regulators for its recent takeover of NBC Universal.
The development won’t be easy, seeing as how television mega-moguls like Oprah can’t even score dynamic ratings with her newly-broadcasted OWN network...
